The Mon/Yough Trail Council is an all volunteer, non-profit(c)3 corporation formed in 1991 to maintain and promote the 15 miles of trail extending south from McKeesport to the Westmoreland County line.

The Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) rail trail offers 150 miles of hiking and biking between Pittsburgh, PA and Cumberland, MD. In Cumberland, GAP connects to the C&O Towpath which continues on to Washington, DC.  Elizabeth Township is lucky enough to have approximately 9 miles of the GAP trail running through our township.

Don't forget to check out the local businesses as you make your way through our Township! Whether you are a resident or a visitor just passing through, we hope your time in Elizabeth Township is memorable.

The Trail Town Program works in small rural towns across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia, focusing on community and economic development around trail tourism and outdoor recreation.
