Hello Elizabeth Township Resident!
My name is Greg Butler and I have been your Township Manager since October 2019. I have been married to
my incredible wife for twenty-eight years. We have two adult children. I have long-term experience in
Local Government and Management. A summary of that experience is as follows:
Local Government:
My career in local government started when I was appointed to the Ingram Borough council in 2004. The following year I was elected to a full term, and I eventually served 18 years as a Councilman. During my tenure, my primary Committee responsibility was roads and sanitation. I navigated the Borough through the MS4 Consent Decree required stormwater improvements. I also served on multiple other Committees. I secured a transportation planning grant and a zoning reform grant. I negotiated three Police contracts and a fire service contract with the City of Pittsburgh.
I served on the Ingram Borough Planning Commission as President for eighteen years. During that tenure, I initiated and managed the development of the first Ingram Borough Comprehensive Plan since 1978.
I was Executive Director of the regional educational non-profit Local Government Academy for two years. While in that role, I developed and delivered over fifty educational webinars and classes on local government topics for use by Municipal Managers and Elected Officials throughout a five-county region.
Management:
My early management career was focused on sales for Fortune 500 companies.
My more recent management experience has been in the educational sector. I held several management positions for Education Management Corporation including Academic Department Head of Industrial Design, Associate Dean of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Dean of Academic Projects and Development for over 12,000 students. I have also taught twenty different design classes.
I have a Master of Education degree in Instructional Leadership, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Economics, and an Associate of Science degree in Industrial Design.
I have Building Code Official, Commercial Building Plan Examiner, Commercial Building Inspector, Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner, Residential Plans Examiner, and Residential Building Inspector certifications with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. I also have a Zoning Administration Certification from the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute.
I love working for the Elizabeth Township residents and the Board of Commissioners. I strive every day to make this beautiful township a better place while helping all township residents thrive in a safe community. Thank you for the privilege to serve the community.
