Short-Term Road Closure on West Smithfield Street Bridge in Elizabeth Township

Bridgeville, PA – Deck resurfacing work on the Route 2018 (West Smithfield) Street bridge, spanning a branch of Unnamed Creek in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County will require a road closure from July 19 through July 25.  The culvert replacement work was completed last year and this work will finalize this project.

While the road is closed, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along SR 2018 to SR 2025 to SR 48. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving in the area.

This bridge is referred to as JV-427 and is one out of the 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.

The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain the bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impacts on motorists.
