Elizabeth Township is accepting applications for the temporary position of Assistant Public Works Laborer with PA Inspection License. The primary duties will be to train with the current mechanic and perform all maintenance work on township owned vehicles and equipment. Other duties such as winter road maintenance will be required. In addition, the applicants must posses a CDL license, be an experienced backhoe operator and be capable of performing manual labor in difficult weather conditions, at times available on a 24-hour basis. Any full-time or part-time position may be subject to criminal history background check and random drug testing. Applicants are required to be residents of Elizabeth Township within one year of the hiring date. The Township reserves the right to reject any and all applications. Applications are available Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM at the Township Office located at 522 Rock Run Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Deadline to apply by mail or in person is close of the business day of December 7, 2016.

RFP for 2016 Auditing Services

The Township of Elizabeth is seeking proposals to conduct the municipal annual Financial Audit for the 2016 calendar year. The requirements for the proposal can be obtained from the Elizabeth Township Administrative Office located at 522 Rock run Road during normal business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. All submissions should be sent to Lauren Zang, Finance Specialist/Office Manager, Elizabeth Township Municipal Building, 522 Rock Run Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope and clearly marked “RFP Financial Audit Services.” All proposals must be received by 10:00 AM on December 7, 2016, no faxed or e-mail proposals will be accepted.

Construction Postponed on Industry Road, Lovedale Road, & Buena Vista Road Bridge Projects

Allegheny County Bridge to be Replaced in 2017 as part of Public-Private Partnership.

Construction for Buena Vista Road bridge spanning Wildcat Run, Industry Road bridge spanning Boyds Hollow Run, & Lovedale Road bridge spanning over Wylie Run in Elizabeth Township have all been postponed until 2017. They were previously scheduled to begin this fall as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.

A release with full details on the new construction timeline will be distributed prior to the start of construction in 2017.

Construction for Industry Road bridge has been delayed to start until October 24th

Construction for the Industry Road bridge, spanning Boyds Hollow Run in Elizabeth Township, has been delayed to start until October 24th. It was previously scheduled to begin on October 17th. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the Allegheny County’s structurally deficient list.

Construction will last for approximately five weeks. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Boyds Hollow Road, Fallen Timber Road, Howell Road, and Rock Run Road.

Construction Set to Begin on Industry Road (SR 2017) Bridge Project in Elizabeth Township

Bridgeville, PA – Construction for the Industry Road (SR 2017_ bridge, spanning Boyds Hollow Run in Elizabeth Township, is scheduled to begin as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Allegheny County’s structurally deficient list.

Construction is expected to being on October 17th and last for approximately five weeks. during this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Boyds Hollow Road, Fallen Timber Road, Howell Road (SR 48) and Rock Run Road.

Built in 1930, the bridge averages 2,029 vehicles a day.

This bridge is referred to as JV-425 out of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV reference the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project.

The Rapid Bridge Replacement Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners (PWKP), under which PWKP will finance, design, replace, and maintain bridges for 25 years. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
